SDPI IMPACT : Dharna leads Demolished school to be reconstructed

Pune: A Minority School named H.G.S. Urdu School located at Sr.No.191, Nagpur Chaal, Maharashtra Housing board Yerwada , Pune-6 was demolished on 20th of November 2010. This school was demolished without providing any prior information or notice by MHADA who chose to run down a running school with 240 students in attendance.
Here the majority of the 240 students belonged to the most backward class of people where education being the constitutional and fundamental right of every citizen comes at a very high premium, still MHADA chose to turn a blind eye and in the name of encroachment decided to raise havoc on the above mentioned school in front of the budding future of this democracy.
To get justice for 240 students rendered school less by the communal approach of MHADA authorities, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) had staged a Dharna on 29th Nov. 2010 at Pune district collector office whereby we had served a 10 day ultimatum to secure the future of the children.
Since the authorities did not pay heed towards rebuilding the school, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) decided to pursue the issue at the highest level and hence 3 of our cadres decided to fast until death starting from 12th December 2010 till our demands were met. Similarly at the same time our lady cadres also joined the struggle and tired to disrupt the corporation and the mayor’s office. A successful flex and poster campaign was also organized at all important places in the city.

Hence by putting pressure from the all the possible places finally on the 6th day of the fast Mr. Ankush Kakade the chairman of MHADA called in a delegation to resolve the issue amicably, Here SDPI demanded that the issue would get resolved only if the authorities allow the school to be rebuilt at the same place and in writing .After long negotiations MHADA had to bow down to the demands of SDPI and the issue was resolved successfully.
